Abstract

Gasification and homogenisation of the fuel/air mixt. of an internal combustion engine by placing in the mixt. trajectory, downstream of the carburettor (4) at least one gasification element (1-2) consisting of non-woven mass of entangled filaments of very small dia. Also claimed is the degasification element. Pref. the element is placed as close to the carburettor as possible and inclined at an angle to the flow axes to increase the vol. of element traversed by the mixt. The rigidity of the element is obtd. by gluing the filament to a mesh (2). The filament mass has high free vol. of greater than 70% pref. 80-97%. Filament dia. is less than 200 microns pref. 30-100 microns. The filaments are 50-90 wt.% polyamide and 10-50 wt.% polyester, e.g. 20 wt.% polyamide 6 of 44 dtex, 60 wt.% polyamide 6 of 22 dtex, 20 wt.% polyester of 17 dtex.
<P>Procédé destiné à gazéifier et homogénéiser le mélange air-carburant des moteurs à combustion interne, caractérisé en ce que l'on dispose, sur le trajet dudit mélange, en aval du carburateur (4) au moins un élément gazéificateur (1-2) principalement constitué par une masse non tissée de filaments enchevêtrés, de très faible diamètre, permettant la gazéification du mélange air-carburant.</P>
